Description

This workshop invites participants to reflect on comprehensive and long-term funding strategies for achieving scientific independence and strengthening institutional positioning. They will discuss general aspects and practical tools for proposal writing, and align their third-party funding proposals with individual scientific independence and career plans:

  • Budgets, compliance, timelines, and evaluation criteria
  • Common pitfalls and evaluator perspectives
  • Long-term strategy: combining individual and collaborative funding
  • Digital tools and platform resources
  • Wrap-up: individual action plans and next steps

The workshop is supported by an asynchronous digital learning platform, accessible to all participants for at least six months. The platform provides:

  • Resources: proposal templates, checklists, funding overviews, video inputs, and peer forums
  • Micro-learning modules: “How to write a strong abstract,” “DFG evaluation criteria,” “ERC panel expectations,” etc.
  • Self-reflection exercises: “My scientific independence plan (SIP),” “My strategic funding map”

 

Trainer

Dr. ès sc. habil. Alexander Schiller was a DFG Heisenberg fellow and Junior Professor for inorganic chemistry at the University of Jena (Germany). Since 2016 he is a full-time trainer and certified coach.
