The annual RGS Doctoral Conference provides a professional, stimulating, and international environment in which up to 100 PhD students in economics can discuss their research results and ideas, establish informal networks, and initiate future collaborative research. The Call for Papers for the upcoming conference "Fiscal Challenges" from 18 to 19 February 2026 is open until 31 December.

The RGS Doctoral Conference is organized by the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics (RGS Econ), which is part of the Research Academy and combines the expertise of the four UA Ruhr economics departments and the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research.

The format of the conference consists of topical sessions containing three papers. Each presentation (20 minutes) will be followed by a discussion by another presenter in the same session (5 minutes) and a subsequent open discussion (5 minutes). RGS Econ considers full papers, both empirical and theoretical, from early-career researchers in all research areas in economics. For more details please check the full Call for Papers.

Don's miss the opportunity to connect with experienced researchers, including RGS Econ’s more than 45 faculty members from the universities of Dortmund, Duisburg-Essen, and Bochum, as well as one of Germany’s leading economic research institutes!
