How do I start my PhD? How can I make a career move to industry as a postdoc? And what makes a good doctoral supervisor? For researchers at all stages of their career, we have put together a selection of informative events and workshops in March and April.

Frühjahrsakademie 2023
At our Frühjahrsakademie from 28 to 30 March 2023 (online), prospective and new PhD candidates can answer their questions about starting a doctorate and prepare for the exciting time of doctoral research. The program consists of a mix of lectures, Q&A sessions and workshops. Registration is still possible until 12 March!

Workshops for doctoral candidates
The Graduate Centre TU Dortmund University currently offers the following workshops, which are open doctoral researchers within UA Ruhr:

Registration is possible until shortly before the event and participation is free of charge.

Postdoc-Workshops
Is a career in industry an option for me? What skills from science and research are transferable? Postdocs interested in a career in business or industry can spend two days in our online training “Selbstbewusst und klar Karriere in der Wirtschaft fokussieren” on 23 and 24 March, discussing their career planning and strategically preparing their next steps. Registration deadline: 9 March.

Keep all your balls in the air and don't lose sight of the timing: Our workshop “Projektmanagement für Postdocs” on 31 March (Campus Essen) and 21 April (online) provides an overview of common project management concepts and methods, including agile techniques such as Kanban and Scrum. There are still a few places available, registration closes on 17 March.

Seminars for habilitation candidates, junior research group leaders and junior professors
Balancing research and leadership tasks: Junior Faculty from the UA Ruhr universities can develop their knowledge and skills in supervising doctoral candidates and reflect on their experiences in the online seminar “Supervising doctoral researchers” on 21 and 22 March. The exclusive seminar with Dr Thomas Koch offers 9 places, registration deadline is 7 March.
