Description

Becoming visible in the scientific community is key for ongoing success also in third party funding. Visibility in research profiles own academic expertise and reputation. Visibility is foremost created through scientific papers - ideally at an international level in high ranking journals - and is actively assessed by reviewers of third party funding proposals.

Thus, it is of uttermost importance to readily develop a personal publication strategy which not only focusses on short-term goals but also takes mid- and long-term goals into consideration.

The second module will address the following questions/aims:

  • From a strategic point of view: what kind of publication suits a grant proposal best?
  • Of the research results I gathered in the latest past, which ones are suitable for publication?
  • What kind of publication format is suitable for my story (stories)?
  • Where do I want to publish next and possibly follow up studies?

The participants will:

  • Learn about the publication process.
  • Get an overview of publication formats and platforms.
  • Reflect about quality assessment (peer-review) and quality measurement (bibliometric indicators).
  • Learn to apply a logical argumentation line in a publication. Identify their individual short-term, mid-term and long-term goals regarding publication activities and develop a publication strategy in the light of forming the basis for successful third party funding acquisition.
