
Research Academy is the joint platform of Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University, and the University of Duisburg-Essen for promoting early career researchers on their career paths in academia and beyond. Our offers are directed at the around 10,000 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers who are engaged in the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr).

We are once again awarding Mobility Grants for postdocs from the University Alliance Ruhr. Stays abroad of up to 12 weeks are funded with a maximum of €6,000. Last year, postdocs took advantage of these opportunity already and reported to us on their travels. Let them inspire you and apply by 20 March.

Our Frühjahrsakademie 2026 will help you to answer these questions and prepare for the exciting time of doctoral studies. It will take place from 24 to 26 March in hybrid form. We invite international doctoral researchers, who have already submitted their doctoral thesis, and early international postdoctoral researchers, who have recently finished their PhD, to explore the research landscape of the University Alliance Ruhr. Our professors offer to host you as a guest at their institute for two weeks.

Within Research Academy, RUB Research School, the Graduate Center TU Dortmund University, and the Graduate Center Plus of the University of Duisburg-Essen combine and bundle their expertise. All activities offered under the umbrella of Research Academy are based on close cooperation and regular exchange of experience.
The joint interdisciplinary qualification offers and career events prepare early career researchers for a career in research, business, and society. All offers also promote the mutual exchange of ideas, both within specific research fields and across individual disciplines.

The Ruhr Graduate School in Economics (RGS Econ) is a co-operation project of the three UA Ruhr economics faculties with the participation of the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research (RWI) and part of the Research Academy. It offers a structured doctoral programme in the field of economics, including research-oriented courses, workshops and conferences.
