Karriereforum

Career planning in academia and business
What are the next steps after the Postdoc phase? What career options do I have as a postdoctoral researcher? Which funding program would be suitable for my next research project? The Karriereforum for postdocs is all about your individual career planning.
What does Karriereforum offer?
Taking the next steps in your postdoctoral career, the Karriereforum provides you with hands-on experience: For one day, renowned experts will offer input on university and non-university research careers or aspects of research funding, and answer your questions. You can also get advice on personal career strategies in confidential consultations.
The Karriereforum takes place twice a year and deals alternately with the following topics:
- Research careers:
Here, for example, you will receive information and advice on appointment procedures at universities and universities of applied sciences, moving into non-academic research, and other alternative career fields for researchers. - Research funding:
The focus will be, among others, on the German funding landscape, selected funding programs and the acquisition of third-party funding.
The included networking lunch gives you the opportunity to exchange experiences with other postdocs and to expand your interdisciplinary network within the University Alliance Ruhr.
Who can participate?
Postdoctoral researchers of all fields of Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University, and University Duisburg-Essen.

Next date: The Karriereforum "Postdoc funding programs for (international) research" will take place online on 23–24 March 2023.

This time, the Karriereforum will again devote two half days to the topic of "Postdoc funding programs for (international) research". On 23 March, we will start with an in-depth overview of the funding landscape and will look at the importance of third-party funding for the academic career path. Then we want to focus on the process of submitting applications. On 24 March, we will then have a look at various foundations that could be of interest for the funding of your research. Q&A sessions with the foundation representatives as well as success stories from successful applicants will round off the program.
The event will be conducted primarily in English. You can arrange your daily schedule individually. Please register by March 5 (see "Registration" section on this page).
